In 2007, GM/Chevrolet debuted the 6.2 379 in the Cadillac Escalade. This engine block was one of the largest V8s GM produced. Cast from aluminum, it was both lightweight and powerful.
All of the 379s manufactured during this time included variable valve timing. These particular motors, the L92s, did not include active fuel management.
The L92s were used for GM/Chevy’s line of luxury trucks and SVUs.
Eventually, the L92 was modified and GM/Chevrolet released the L9H, available in Chevy Silverados and GMC Sierras, and the L94, which was modified for Flex Fuel capabilities, but still did not include AFM.
